------ BORROWING LAB LAPTOPS -------------------------------------------------------


We suggest using your own laptops - you'll have a better experience.
But students are free to borrow a lab laptop while in lab.

Here are the steps:

To Borrow
1. Completely fill out the equipment Check-Out Form, include the laptop #.
2. Unplug the ethernet cable on the front
3. Pull the laptop out and unplug the power cord in the back.
4. Double check the laptop #.
5. Carry the laptop with TWO HANDS to avoid drops

Use
1. User is "Engr"
2. There is no password, just hit enter.
3. Check battery level!  If battery is low, connect it to a power supply (on laptop cart), don't grab another laptop
4. Mouse pads are on the laptop cart (USB mice don't work well on black epoxy surfaces)

Returning laptop
1. Close all windows, programs, apps.
2. Log off
3. Do NOT shut down the computer
4. Return the laptop to its correct position.
5. Plug in the power in the back
6. Slide laptop in
7. Plug the ethernet cablet in the front.

Also return power supplies, USB mouse, and mouse pad to their appropriate locations on the cart.

Inform the instructor that the laptop is returned.
He will check it, and either give you back the check-out form, or tear it up.
